Virtual Reality (VR)

    In recent years Virtual Reality (VR) has become increasingly popular through social media platforms and online streaming services such as Twitch, Tiktok, and YouTube. With how quickly VR has advanced, legal jurisdiction of VR companies, security risks, and social and ethical concerns have been unclear in how extensive the consequences and risks could be.

    Virtual Reality was first created by Edwin A. Link through a VR flight simulator in 1929. At its most basic form VR is a digital mechanic that simulates real world surroundings using technology like 3D eye displays. The technology of VR has advanced so fast that the legal jurisdiction surrounding it has yet to catch up, so currently there are many issues regarding privacy of a user and their personal information being stolen. Additionally, laws have not covered the social and ethical issues that plague VR, some of which include workplace bias and medical malpractice. However regardless of the negatives, VR is projected to be the future of modern technology and its use will contribute to the advancement of military technologies and medical procedures. While there is still plenty of room for improvement of VR, it still has the potential to increase human production, education, and economy exponentially.
